The audience thought a goal was coming when César de Souza got free with Arnout Reekers in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 22nd minute of play forced Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goalkeeper Carlos Germano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute Lars Meesters shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Germano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César de Souza in the 24th minute of the match. After having played for 26 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bebeto da Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Carlos Germano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute, one of Donzela de Ferro FBPA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Donzela de Ferro FBPA. Carlos Germano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Henrique de Lima. But to his dismay, Henrique de Lima quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Netherlands's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
