The audience thought a goal was coming when João Pedro Silva got free with Arnout Reekers in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladimir Miheev having to interfere. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canastro FC's goalkeeper Vladimir Miheev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 38 minutes into the game, Lars Meesters cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Vladimir Miheev was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wlodzimierz Absolwent in the 46th minute. The Canastro FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Gijsbert ter Kruimer made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Valter Abreu came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vladimir Miheev yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Canastro FC's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vladimir Miheev came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vladimir Miheev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 77th minute Valter Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Lars Meesters reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vladimir Miheev. The goal made the score 0-3. In the 83rd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vladimir Miheev was a little too slow when Wim Wilmes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 0-4. In the 92nd minute of the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vladimir Miheev was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, Canastro FC's Ernani Ribeiro got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
