Lesardo Alavedra took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fodor Daniel. Nils-Åke Andreasson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Major Barna in the 74th minute of play. Hungary's Takacs Tibor got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 82 minutes into the match, Deportivo Alavés's Lesardo Alavedra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fodor Daniel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, Deportivo Alavés could leave the field as winners, despite Hungary having more of the ball for most of the match.
