The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sven Krakouer hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Pascal Zalm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pascal Zalm in the 9th minute of play. A collision led to Winthont FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Mathijs Grommers hit a great ball. Winthont FC's Igor Fujara managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Willy Stieler in the 14 minute of the game. Igor Fujara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A sloppy throw-in by Willy Stieler in the 22nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Winthont FC's Geert Arend Roodenburg. Mathijs Grommers received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Kahn came out and tried to block the shot, but Mathijs Grommers slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 27th minute. Dennis Beerthuis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sachs, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Winthont FC's attentive Geert Arend Roodenburg managed to snatch the ball when Linus Schwerner made a throw-in in the 37th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, Winthont FC's Pascal Zalm ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Winthont FC's attentive Geert Arend Roodenburg managed to snatch the ball when Linus Schwerner made a throw-in in the 44th minute of the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

In the 74th minute Hermengildo Nesor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermengildo Nesor in the 76th minute of the match. Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, Winthont FC's Hermengildo Nesor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Kahn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Winthont FC's Hermengildo Nesor. But to his dismay, Hermengildo Nesor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. In the 92nd minute Hermengildo Nesor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dennis Beerthuis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Winthont FC's Hermengildo Nesor nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Winthont FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Germany had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
