Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Toronto United's Hayden Laframboise started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Norberto Carey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes in the game Silvije Santek did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Dinko Stankovic. After 10 minutes of play, Croatia's Martin Bosak made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. William Nance was left in no man's land by his defense there! 13 minutes into the match, Damir Pongrac had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of William Nance. Toronto United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damir Pongrac was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Toronto United's William Nance played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinko Stankovic in the 19th minute of play. The supporters of Toronto United booed when Croatia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toni Mauzer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ilija Skugor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hayden Laframboise in the 25th minute of the match. In the 30th match minute, Croatia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Kostelac to maneuver through the defense. In the 33rd minute, Brandon Short hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Croatia's attentive Eduard Kostelac managed to snatch the ball when Donte Gaulin made a throw-in in the 34th minute of the game. In the 35th minute Martin Bosak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Nance saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolf Leslie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Ilija Skugor made a huge save. Toni Mauzer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Nance having to interfere.

In the 53rd minute of the match Croatia got a corner. Toronto United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Toni Mauzer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Damir Pongrac struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. William Nance didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Croatia. 58 minutes into the match, Toronto United's goalkeeper William Nance had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toni Mauzer. In the 62nd minute Hayden Laframboise shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilija Skugor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 63 minutes into the game, Dinko Stankovic lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated William Nance. After 69 played minutes Toronto United got a freekick which was hit by Willian Mainville. If Damir Pongrac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rolf Leslie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Ilija Skugor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ilija Skugor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rolf Leslie, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Croatia played a much better game than Toronto United and deserved their victory. The Toronto United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
