Bruno Papa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Henrich Slany made a huge save. 4 minutes into the match, Anthony Oddi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Henrich Slany, 1-0. Slovakia's attentive Zigmund Maliar managed to snatch the ball when Antonello Walcher made a throw-in in the 7th minute of the game. Damiano Marsili made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Metod Mlynar in the 10th minute of play. Metod Mlynar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Damiano Marsili read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Slovakia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Metod Mlynar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alvaro Anastasi kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Henrich Slany made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Bruno Papa sent off a good shot on target. When Anthony Oddi came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Riccardo & Erika fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anthony Oddi couldn't finish the play. Damiano Marsili came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Slovakia's Metod Mlynar. But to his dismay, Metod Mlynar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The audience was convinced that Anthony Oddi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henrich Slany was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Fabio Ferrario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henrich Slany read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Zigmund Maliar hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Slovakia's Kornel Jahoda got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 46th minute, Metod Mlynar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bruno Papa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Henrich Slany took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Papa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 78 minutes, Metod Mlynar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Slovakia and the Riccardo & Erika players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Slovakia's Metod Mlynar got a free kick in the 78th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Metod Mlynar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Slovakia's supporters rose to their feet, but Metod Mlynar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damiano Marsili breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Papa in the 91st minute of play forced Slovakia's goalkeeper Henrich Slany to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd match minute, Slovakia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kornel Jahoda to maneuver through the defense. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
