In the 4th minute of the game Bradner McCready made a throw-in which Vehdi Abanoz played forward. Gordon Horgan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 15 played minutes COPERNICUS TORUŃ got a freekick which was hit by Hickey Callaghan. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sostene Vitulli in the 17th minute of play forced COPERNICUS TORUŃ's goalkeeper Gordon Horgan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sigfrido Auletta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the match, COPERNICUS TORUŃ's goal looked a bit too open when Porziano Marchitelli came free, but Gordon Horgan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Zaccheo Andolina put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gordon Horgan. After 28 minutes of play, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gordon Horgan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zaccheo Andolina in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gordon Horgan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Italy were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after COPERNICUS TORUŃ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sigfrido Auletta took the corner. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tahsin Atacan in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, COPERNICUS TORUŃ's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Gordon Horgan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Gomberto Picozzi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Italy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave COPERNICUS TORUŃ the free kick. In the 44th match minute, Italy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gomberto Picozzi to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the COPERNICUS TORUŃ defense, Zaccheo Andolina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gordon Horgan. The COPERNICUS TORUŃ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gordon Horgan should have stopped the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Olgun Oktay made a kick off. Italy's attentive Siricio Liotta managed to snatch the ball when Bradner McCready made a throw-in in the 57th minute of the game. Porziano Marchitelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 71 minutes into the game, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gordon Horgan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 73rd minute of play forced COPERNICUS TORUŃ's goalkeeper Gordon Horgan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. COPERNICUS TORUŃ's Tahsin Atacan got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tahsin Atacan in the 77th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gordon Horgan made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Zaccheo Andolina sent off a good shot on target. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olgun Oktay in the 85th minute of play. After a rather tough play, COPERNICUS TORUŃ's Vehdi Abanoz got a free kick in the 89th minute. Hickey Callaghan kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Italy's Gordon Horgan threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adriano Curto, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 95 minutes into the game, COPERNICUS TORUŃ's Brion Murphy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Vittori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Italy's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
