But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lisandro Mikolas got free with Arnout Reekers in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Nilton Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 22nd minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Arnout Reekers successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Hortêncio Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Nilton Lira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute of the match Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nilton Lira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rigoberto Tohias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 32nd minute of play forced Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s goalkeeper Nilton Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lisandro Mikolas got free with Arnout Reekers in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 38th minute, Hortêncio Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. With his leg Arnout Reekers managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s Hortêncio Montenegro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Nilton Lira made a huge save. In the 58th minute, Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ.'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 60th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Wilmes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nilton Lira having to make a save. In the 71st match minute, Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artemio Jaizki to maneuver through the defense. Ȓᾄvἔᾗṩ Ғ.Ƈ. made a substitution. Adrián Czornomaz replaced Hortêncio Montenegro. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Wilmes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilton Lira having to interfere. In the 96th minute Rigoberto Tohias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
