The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Egbert Nijveldt got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michaël Guillot in the 90th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Niculae Romanescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Niculae Romanescu. Niculae Romanescu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
