Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moise Bobeanu in the 43rd minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dennis Giusti during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Sebastian Winszman in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 71 minutes into the game, Simon Sabbe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sebastian Winszman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Yves Dervaux fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Belgium's protests and gave Yves Dervaux a yellow card for diving instead. In the 83rd match minute, Belgium was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yves Dervaux to maneuver through the defense.
