After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Frank Sachs managed to get in a good position for a shot. Germany's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Sachs was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Lomba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lauro Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, Viggo Lidström notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Germany's Tommy Kahn. Tommy Kahn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 32 minutes, Viggo Lidström made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Esporte Club Bahia's Viggo Lidström was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 42nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After 44 played minutes Esporte Club Bahia got a freekick which was hit by Gilberto Quadros. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esporte Club Bahia's goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The wind increased when Viggo Lidström made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Esporte Club Bahia's Viggo Lidström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. In the 54th minute Frank Sachs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Lomba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba got control of the ball when Frank Sachs tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led to Esporte Club Bahia's Tiago Xavier getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by Esporte Club Bahia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Frank Sachs was slow to take the kick. During this time Germany's players had a chance to rest. Frank Sachs made a great header on Germany's corner, it was just that Esporte Club Bahia's Marcelo Lomba managed to reach the ball for a save. Germany's Janik Vogt managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Wieslaw Petka in the 71 minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Viggo Lidström put it in 9-0 from a short distance just to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's Tommy Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Gustavo Paes in the 81st minute of play. Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Frank Sachs struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Marcelo Lomba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Germany. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viggo Lidström in the 89th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Albin Holweck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a long run with the ball, Wieslaw Petka did a trick in the 96th minute in front of Germany's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 10-0. An impressive performance by Esporte Club Bahia's Wieslaw Petka! Esporte Club Bahia walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
