In the 7th minute Steve Triganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artaç Hendekli, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. 13 minutes into the game, AEK FC's Erland Slyngstad nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After a rather tough play, AEK FC's Steve Triganza got a free kick in the 15th minute. Frank Sachs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Kenneth Knudsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Germany's Albin Holweck got a free kick in the 25th minute. Steve Triganza received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. The shot was stopped by Tommy Kahn but with some difficulty. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Sachs stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Artaç Hendekli came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Sven Krakouer hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in AEK FC's zone, Frank Sachs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kenneth Knudsen came out of the goal and Frank Sachs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sindre Westerlund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to AEK FC getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Sindre Westerlund hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Adrian Dreifuss hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sindre Westerlund shot from long distance after 75 played minutes, a shot that Tommy Kahn with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. In the 77th match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven Krakouer to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind AEK FC's goalkeeper Kenneth Knudsen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of AEK FC booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. The AEK FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Germany had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
