The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Alex Serban got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hipolito Igon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Olaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Hipolito Igon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Olaru in the 13th minute of play. A throw-in in the 15th minute of the game was made by Vasile Ciumak with Alex Serban as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 17 minutes into the match, ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★'s goal looked a bit too open when Costica Vladimiri came free, but Hipolito Igon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Ciumak made in the 18th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Adam Olaru however managed to control. Cauan Figueiredo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Carol Stinga made a huge save. In the 22nd minute, Alex Serban made a precise shot to the right of Hipolito Igon. ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★'s Hipolito Igon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Olaru in the 28th minute of play. Hipolito Igon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adam Olaru went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adam Olaru in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hipolito Igon saved ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★ from getting behind. Thiago Almada sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adam Olaru in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hipolito Igon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Costica Vladimiri came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Romania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Costica Vladimiri couldn't finish the play. After the first half Romania were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Hipolito Igon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Costica Vladimiri in the 51st minute. In the 53rd minute Adam Olaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hipolito Igon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carol Stinga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Generoso Navarro in the 55th minute of the match. Adam Olaru received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hipolito Igon came out and tried to block the shot, but Adam Olaru slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 57th minute. Romania made a substitution. Anton Stinga replaced Adam Olaru. ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★'s Roberto Cabañas was substituted for Generoso Navarro. Hipolito Igon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anton Stinga in the 62nd minute of play. Rasvan Cristescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romania made a substitution. But to his dismay, Roberto Cabañas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Hipolito Igon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavian Vaduva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 79 minutes of play, Romania's Anton Stinga made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hipolito Igon was left in no man's land by his defense there! ℬяїsтоl ℭiтџ ★ɓy ℳᾳxjgb★'s Ognen Čaparovski was substituted for Thiago Almada. Alexandru Pangratiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hipolito Igon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Octavian Vaduva kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hipolito Igon. That made the score 1-5 in the 93 minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, Anton Stinga cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Hipolito Igon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
