The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when FC Sarajevo City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Himzet Lukinović didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jörn Svartengren might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Begtan Šuton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jörn Svartengren ran back to his position shaking his head. Begtan Šuton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jörn Svartengren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Begtan Šuton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörn Svartengren in the 10th minute of play. Sebastian Hellkvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Himzet Lukinović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Jörn Svartengren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Begtan Šuton was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Sebastian Hellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jasmin Fariković in the 20th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jörn Svartengren in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Begtan Šuton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sebastian Hellkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Himzet Lukinović, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Jörn Svartengren scored 0-2 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Begtan Šuton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Begtan Šuton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jörn Svartengren in the 35th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Jörn Svartengren put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Begtan Šuton. Xavier Zanetti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 43rd match minute, FC Sarajevo City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Himzet Lukinović to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörn Svartengren in the 45th minute of play forced FC Sarajevo City's goalkeeper Begtan Šuton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Begtan Šuton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jörn Svartengren, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Sarajevo City's goalkeeper Begtan Šuton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jörn Svartengren got free with Begtan Šuton in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60th minute of the match Inter de Guayaquil FC got a corner. FC Sarajevo City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Salvador Musacchio ran over to the corner to take the kick. Salvador Musacchio made a great header on Inter de Guayaquil FC's corner, it was just that FC Sarajevo City's Begtan Šuton managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 61stth minute of the game Jörn Svartengren who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Sarajevo City's Begtan Šuton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Jakub Ziombkowski was substituted for Victor Morales. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Éric Cantona was substituted for Jörn Svartengren. Omer Mješalica's late challenge caught a Inter de Guayaquil FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Omer Mješalica helped the player get up and apologised. When Éric Cantona came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Inter de Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Éric Cantona couldn't finish the play. Éric Cantona took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Begtan Šuton. Begtan Šuton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-8. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Éric Cantona in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Begtan Šuton saved FC Sarajevo City from getting behind. Inter de Guayaquil FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
