Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. 11 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Aguinaga Nebot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnout Reekers was out of position in the 13 minute of play, and İbrahim Volkan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. İbrahim Volkan really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martinez Cines in the 17th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 21st minute of play forced Esmeraldas S.C.'s goalkeeper Aguinaga Nebot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 22nd minute of play. Aguinaga Nebot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 24th minute of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İbrahim Volkan in the 26th minute of play. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a kick off. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 50th minute of the match, but Aguinaga Nebot made a huge save. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Esmeraldas S.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The corner led Netherlands's Lars Meesters to fire away a dangerous shot which Aguinaga Nebot despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 53 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Maftei came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 54th minute of play. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martinez Cines in the 56th minute of play. In the 59th match minute, Esmeraldas S.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Zaldua to maneuver through the defense. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by İbrahim Volkan in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Esmeraldas S.C.'s zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aguinaga Nebot came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 66 played minutes Esmeraldas S.C. got a freekick which was hit by Niki Borda. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aguinaga Nebot having to interfere. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martinez Cines, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Aguinaga Nebot could save by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Aguinaga Nebot. That made the score 1-1 in the 74 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Esmeraldas S.C.'s İbrahim Volkan got a free kick in the 77th minute. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 80th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot managed to reach the ball for a save. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from İbrahim Volkan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes in the game, İbrahim Volkan dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 88 minutes into the match, Damian Maftei had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Damian Maftei was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Wim Wilmes took the ball and in the 92 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aguinaga Nebot. Aguinaga Nebot dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
