The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 12 minutes into the game, Jonas Nalder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Austria's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dutch Rebels the free kick. In the 12th match minute, Austria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonas Nalder to maneuver through the defense. Fabio Schneider sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Marvin Harrer fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Austria's protests and gave Marvin Harrer a yellow card for diving instead. After 23 played minutes Austria got a freekick which was hit by Marvin Harrer. Fabio Auer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dylan Verhaert went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Sandro Galishoff kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Fabio Auer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lauren Seveneijnts, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Dutch Rebels's Adam Vermeiren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandro Galishoff in the 34th minute of play. In the 37th minute Lauren Seveneijnts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Auer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The supporters of Dutch Rebels booed when Austria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marc Kronecker didn't get a good kick on the ball.
