The referee ignored France's protests and gave Robert Chapuis a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, France's Robert Chapuis got a free kick in the 27th minute. Emiliano Lesardos short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Maxime Durand to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Honorio Lario got free with Maxime Durand in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wuilker Fariñez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Frank Peletier went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. 40 minutes into the match, France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Emiliano Lesardo. If Emiliano Lesardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

The wind increased when Frank Peletier made the kick off in the second half. Emiliano Lesardo took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Maxime Durand. Maxime Durand dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. 58 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de Merida FC's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Peletier came free, but Wuilker Fariñez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. France's Maxime Durand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Lesardo in the 59th minute of play. Camille Baume fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wuilker Fariñez having to interfere. After 65 minutes, Alexis Bruneau mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the France and the Estudiantes de Merida FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Maxime Durand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Lesardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Maxime Durand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garci Vaz in the 71st minute of the match. René Descartes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emiliano Lesardo in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maxime Durand saved France from getting behind. After a rather tough play, France's Remy Dupuy got a free kick in the 80th minute. Estudiantes de Merida FC made a substitution. Marcelino Quinten replaced Emiliano Lesardo. In the 82nd minute, Remy Dupuy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 84 minutes France's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Maicon Brodel who took care of the corner kick. Honorio Lario was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 86 minutes into the match, France's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelino Quinten came free, but Maxime Durand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, France's Alexis Bruneau got a free kick in the 87th minute. France's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
