An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 17th minute of play forced FC Ruscova's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the game, FC Ruscova's Petruț Fințescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Vittori made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Flavio Vittori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Petruț Fințescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zaccheo Andolina made a kick off. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Ruscova's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sigfrido Auletta was slow to take the kick. During this time Italy's players had a chance to rest. 55 minutes into the match, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Helmuth Duckadam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Ruscova's Freek Jongbloedt was substituted for Marcu Iovan. FC Ruscova's Albert Harbuz was substituted for Marco Verratti. Italy's Gomberto Picozzi quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Algot Walroth, made in the 59th minute of the game. Porziano Marchitelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Siricio Liotta scored 1-3 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Helmuth Duckadam, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zaccheo Andolina in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Helmuth Duckadam prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 78th minute of the match, Zaccheo Andolina tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Helmuth Duckadam saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Helmuth Duckadam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sigfrido Auletta, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save FC Ruscova from getting a goal against them. Italy made a substitution. With his leg Helmuth Duckadam managed to avoid a goal in the 95thth minute, when Italy's Adriano Curto fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 96 minutes into the match, Petruț Fințescu notched a goal, 2-4, to the right of Italy's Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Italy's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
