It was Antal Valentin who took care of the corner kick. 14 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Nils Friberger came free, but Fodor Daniel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Pietrowski in the 16th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Iwo Imbor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Antal Valentin came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antal Valentin couldn't finish the play. After taking down the ball on Hungary's corner Katona Janos fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cezary Kaczeniak quite easily take care of the ball. Balazs Lajos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cezary Kaczeniak having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Artur Pietrowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fodor Daniel was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. 45 minutes into the game, Antal Valentin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. The Hungary fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fodor Daniel should have stopped the shot.
