The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christian Almkvist in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luc Van Hinnendael prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 69th minute Saul Roman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alessandro Del Piero scored 5-0 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luc Van Hinnendael, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 95th minute Alessandro Del Piero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Bruges's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
