MAFFIAN's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Camille Baume was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vincent Linberg in the 23rd minute of play forced France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, France's Remy Dupuy got a free kick in the 24th minute. After 33 played minutes MAFFIAN got a freekick which was hit by Börje Frisk. Frank Peletier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aron Dahlbom having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in MAFFIAN's zone, David Barbier stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aron Dahlbom came out of the goal and David Barbier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Frank Peletier fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored France's protests and gave Frank Peletier a yellow card for diving instead. After 37 played minutes France got a freekick which was hit by Frank Peletier. Alf Säfström hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. When France's Frank Peletier in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye MAFFIAN's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank Peletier stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Maxime Durand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andre Agassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After 52 minutes France's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Börje Frisk who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on MAFFIAN's corner Patrik Zachrisson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Maxime Durand quite easily take care of the ball. The audience was convinced that Andre Agassi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maxime Durand was relentless in the 54th minute of the game.
