The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valio Tammisto to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hristo Stoichkov got free with Jaap van der Schans in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eloi Fontanella might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jaap van der Schans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eloi Fontanella ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 88th minute, Athletico Picapedrense's Eloi Fontanella dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. Athletico Picapedrense's Claudio Zárate was substituted for Hristo Stoichkov. Jaap van der Schans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudio Zárate, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute.
