The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Illanbaun Utd defense, Batt Palmer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pat Harkin. The Illanbaun Utd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pat Harkin should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cleary Mulvihill got free with Boyle McJames in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pat Harkin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Batt Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Kilsob AFC's Boyle McJames got control of the ball when Cleary Mulvihill tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 20th minute Illanbaun Utd were awarded a corner. Dane Doyle went to the cornerflag to take it. Illanbaun Utd's Dane Doyle was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Boyle McJames in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A hard shot 23 in the game by Cleary Mulvihill from a close distance when the talented Boyle McJames managed to make a qualified save. Kilsob AFC's players were relieved. Illanbaun Utd's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Dane Doyle in the 28th minute. After taking down the ball on Illanbaun Utd's corner Dane Doyle fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Boyle McJames quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Burke McAlphie in the 34th minute of play forced Illanbaun Utd's goalkeeper Pat Harkin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pat Harkin came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Kilsob AFC's Batt Palmer. But to his dismay, Batt Palmer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Kilsob AFC's Burke McAlphie got a free kick in the 39th minute. Cleary Mulvihill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, Batt Palmer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cleary Mulvihill was the one to do the kick off. Kilsob AFC's Boyle McJames played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cleary Mulvihill in the 61st minute of play. Illanbaun Utd's Pat Harkin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Illanbaun Utd from getting a goal against them. When Brenna McNamara fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Illanbaun Utd's protests and gave Brenna McNamara a yellow card for diving instead. Brenna McNamara hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Douglas McPeter's late challenge caught a Kilsob AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Douglas McPeter helped the player get up and apologised. Douglas McPeter kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Begley McNamara might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Boyle McJames. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Begley McNamara ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute Cleary Mulvihill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boyle McJames saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Batt Palmer didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-3 via right post in the game's 79th minute. Kilsob AFC's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Boyle McJames took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cleary Mulvihill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Kilsob AFC's zone, Begley McNamara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boyle McJames came out of the goal and Begley McNamara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Begley McNamara took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Boyle McJames. Boyle McJames dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Kilsob AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
