Lu Rong Yi hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Fodor Daniel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Keegan in the 10th minute of play. The supporters of Hungary booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lu Rong Yi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Karl-Erik Norström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antal Valentin in the 14th minute of play. With a little luck, Hungary's Fodor Daniel got control of the ball when Chen Ao Fan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Skövde AIK's Karl-Erik Norström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antal Valentin in the 23rd minute of play. Hungary's Fodor Daniel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Hungary from getting a goal against them. After 29 minutes Hungary's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Krister Uggstedt who took care of the corner kick. Fodor Daniel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 34th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kurt Hamrin in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fodor Daniel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kevin Keegan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Skövde AIK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Antal Valentin was slow to take the kick. During this time Hungary's players had a chance to rest. 47 minutes into the game, Takacs Tibor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hungary's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Skövde AIK the free kick. A collision led to Hungary getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Takacs Tibor hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kurt Hamrin made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Kevin Keegan had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fodor Daniel. Hungary's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kevin Keegan was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Chen Ao Fan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Fodor Daniel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Karl-Erik Norström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antal Valentin. Antal Valentin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute, Takacs Tibor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hungary were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after Skövde AIK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Antal Valentin took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Balazs Lajos managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Kevin Keegan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skövde AIK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kevin Keegan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fodor Daniel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Chen Ao Fan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl-Erik Norström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Major Barna in the 80th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, Major Barna notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Skövde AIK's Karl-Erik Norström. Karl-Erik Norström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 84 minutes of play, Skövde AIK's Kurt Hamrin made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fodor Daniel was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Keegan in the 87th minute of play forced Hungary's goalkeeper Fodor Daniel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Hamrin in the 89th minute of play. Fodor Daniel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Keegan in the 91st minute of the match. Fodor Daniel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kurt Hamrin, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Hungary's Fodor Daniel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Keegan in the 96th minute of play.
