GuateFortín's Máximo Perrone was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Wilson Amorim in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 10 minutes into the game, Claudio Cerritos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GuateFortín's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portugal the free kick. After 10 played minutes GuateFortín got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Cerritos. Christian Najarro hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Sven-Edvin Jansson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 18th minute of the match. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Claudio Cerritos got a free kick in the 24th minute. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Faustino Almeida got a free kick in the 27th minute. Sven-Edvin Jansson succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 28th playminute. GuateFortín's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zico Zellier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nery Pumpido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 41st minute of the match. Felipe Barreto took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nery Pumpido. Nery Pumpido dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. When Zico Zellier came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the GuateFortín fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zico Zellier couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The wind increased when Viriato Moura made the kick off in the second half. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zico Zellier, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes into the game, Daniel Pimentel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Nery Pumpido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zico Zellier in the 58th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zico Zellier in the 61st minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nery Pumpido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugal. Portugal made a substitution. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stanyo Búnkov in the 71st minute of play. Nery Pumpido made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Pimentel in the 80th minute. In the 84th minute Bartolomeu Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 minutes, Christian Najarro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GuateFortín and the Portugal players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sven-Edvin Jansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. Sven-Edvin Jansson took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. The Portugal players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
