Geronimo Rulli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 5th minute of play. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ege Deniz in the 7th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 10th minute of play forced Internacional's goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Internacional's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. 17 minutes into the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Internacional's Geronimo Rulli. Geronimo Rulli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The throw-in from Gust Ennemans in the 20th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Internacional's Pablo-Enrique Abeijon. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geronimo Rulli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Internacional's Geronimo Rulli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 26th minute of play. In the 32nd minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Internacional's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 34th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geronimo Rulli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 程烨瑜 in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Arnout Reekers, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 43 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio de Andrade came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 45 minutes, Kees Mooiweer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Netherlands and the Internacional players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th match minute, Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kees Mooiweer to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio de Andrade came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gijsbert ter Kruimer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Internacional was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by 程烨瑜 to maneuver through the defense. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 程烨瑜 in the 53rd minute of play. Geronimo Rulli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 58th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Gustaaf Groeneveldt could shoot a difficult shot in the 60th minute, which Geronimo Rulli however easily saved by the left post. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geronimo Rulli having to interfere. Internacional made a substitution. Rafael Abarca replaced Etxahun Abastas. In the 72nd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Wim Wilmes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Geronimo Rulli having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 程烨瑜 in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 程烨瑜 took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. A sloppy throw-in by Kees Mooiweer in the 91st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Internacional's Pablo-Enrique Abeijon. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Internacional was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. 程烨瑜 didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Netherlands had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
