Jere Klein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in VINEIRO FC's zone, Xaime Hinojosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Toto Caputo came out of the goal and Xaime Hinojosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 40 in the game by Clemente Mergildo from a close distance when the talented Jere Klein managed to make a qualified save. Spartans FC's players were relieved. VINEIRO FC's Justino Su got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jere Klein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anastasio Miliano in the 45th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Clemente Mergildo made a kick off. Spartans FC's Jere Klein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anastasio Miliano in the 51st minute of play. Xaime Hinojosa's late challenge caught a VINEIRO FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clemente Mergildo in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jere Klein prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Toto Caputo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adriano Sierralta, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Spartans FC were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after VINEIRO FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aldo Quilempan took the corner. Spartans FC's Aldo Quilempan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Toto Caputo in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
