Spectators: 10300 (Terracing: 7725, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Joško Van Landschoot started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Gabriel Van Dyck, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gabriel Van Dyck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferry Hebels in the 7th minute of the match. Gabriel Van Dyck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Klaas Jan Mol went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Dennis Beerthuis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joško Van Landschoot's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. After 20 minutes, Joško Van Landschoot made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Netherlands's Dennis Beerthuis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 24 minutes into the game, Ted Fokkelman threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Belgium's Adem Soyyiğit quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. U21 Belgium's Joško Van Landschoot got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gabriel Van Dyck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klaas Jan Mol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes into the game, Marnix Mastebroek threw the ball into play from the sideline. U21 Belgium's Adem Soyyiğit quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The crowd rose to their feet as Joško Van Landschoot kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dennis Beerthuis. That made the score 2-1 in the 43 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Collen in the 45th minute of play forced U21 Belgium's goalkeeper Gabriel Van Dyck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 46 played minutes U21 Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Adem Soyyiğit. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Klaas Jan Mol got free with Gabriel Van Dyck in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joško Van Landschoot in the 53rd minute of play forced U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper Dennis Beerthuis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabriel Van Dyck made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Dave Bense sent off a good shot on target. After 62 played minutes U21 Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Ted Fokkelman. Adem Soyyiğit took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dennis Beerthuis. U21 Netherlands's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Joško Van Landschoot came free, but Dennis Beerthuis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dennis Beerthuis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joško Van Landschoot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joško Van Landschoot took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dennis Beerthuis. Dennis Beerthuis dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. U21 Belgium's Gabriel Van Dyck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaas Jan Mol in the 78th minute of play. Adem Soyyiğit hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Gabriel Van Dyck was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Marnix Mastebroek. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Belgium fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
