After a defensive mix-up in Carpasús FC - FDC's zone, Gustaaf Groeneveldt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oliveiro Gijon came out of the goal and Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oliveiro Gijon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lars Meesters in the 26th minute of the match. Wim Wilmes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Oliveiro Gijon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Inacio Garrote. In the 33rd minute of the match, Inacio Garrote got a very nice opportunity to score, but Arnout Reekers was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pieterjan Neef hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Oliveiro Gijon. Oliveiro Gijon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Carpasús FC - FDC's Joélson Messias got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
