In the 3rd minute, Erivaldo Pernambucano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Chris Nygaard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 1-0 became the score in the 15th minute when Anderson Ortiz elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Keld Paulsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anderson Ortiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Olav Graversen hit a great ball. After 21 played minutes Wellington Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Anderson Ortiz. A collision led to Denmark getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Kenn Skou hit a great ball. Wellington Phoenix's Erivaldo Pernambucano couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Denmark. In the 29th minute, Anderson Ortiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Denmark's Keld Paulsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anderson Ortiz in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Chris Nygaard made a precise shot to the right of Zeca Santos. Wellington Phoenix's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Denmark's attentive Lars Steen managed to snatch the ball when Gabriel Magalhães made a throw-in in the 40th minute of the game. Gabriel Magalhães got a throw-in 41 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Teofilo Unai. After 44 played minutes Wellington Phoenix got a freekick which was hit by Marciano Pedroso. In the 45th minute, Bertram Svenningsen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zeca Santos was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anderson Ortiz was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Wellington Phoenix were awarded a corner. Erivaldo Pernambucano went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 58th minute Bertram Svenningsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeca Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 61 minutes into the game, when Arthur Meireles put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Arthur Meireles got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Wellington Phoenix's André Luís Netto was substituted for Anderson Ortiz. In the 63rd minute, Arthur Meireles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 63 minutes, Chris Nygaard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Denmark's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chris Nygaard was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Denmark's Keld Paulsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Pernambucano in the 68th minute of play. Keld Paulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teofilo Unai in the 70th minute of play. Zeca Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chris Nygaard in the 77th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Vladimir Couto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wellington Phoenix's supporters rose to their feet, but Vladimir Couto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keld Paulsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Keld Paulsen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erivaldo Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes into the game, Wellington Phoenix's Erivaldo Pernambucano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Keld Paulsen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Zeca Santos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chris Nygaard's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. Mikkel Wulff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th match minute, Wellington Phoenix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Moscardó to maneuver through the defense. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
