Wágner Zonta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 12th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Rasko Nestorovski charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rasko Nestorovski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alexsandro Netto got a throw-in 18 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Francisco Breckenfeld. 20 minutes into the match, Wágner Zonta dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic, 2-0. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mário Araújo in the 24th minute. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Zonta in the 25th minute of play. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Paraíba in the 34th minute of the match. Alexandre Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the match, Serbia's goalkeeper Zvezdan Nedeljkovic had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mário Araújo. 40 minutes into the game, Mário Araújo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Mário Araújo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mário Araújo got free with Zvezdan Nedeljkovic in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Araújo in the 44th minute of play forced Serbia's goalkeeper Zvezdan Nedeljkovic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th match minute, Serbia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sreten Popovic to maneuver through the defense. Guub United's Sérgio Velloso got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

Mário Araújo took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Borjan Golubovic's late challenge caught a Guub United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Borjan Golubovic helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Guub United booed when Serbia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Borjan Golubovic didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serbia's Zvezdan Nedeljkovic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Araújo in the 59th minute of play. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Serbia defense, Sérgio Velloso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. The Serbia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zvezdan Nedeljkovic should have stopped the shot. After 69 minutes of play, Guub United's Alexandre Paraíba made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was left in no man's land by his defense there! 73 minutes into the game, Dedé da Mata cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Zvezdan Nedeljkovic was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 76 minutes into the match, Mário Araújo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zvezdan Nedeljkovic. Serbia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mário Araújo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Guub United fully deserved thier win.
