Mark Gonzalez kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. George Barabois short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Rodrigo Huilipan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 29th minute George Baraboi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodrigo Huilipan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mesut Özil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Rodrigo Huilipan made a huge save. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Moldova's goalkeeper Best Junel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Nicolás Castillo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 37 minutes of play, U21 Moldova's Mesut Özil made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rodrigo Huilipan was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in U21 Moldova's zone, Nicolás Castillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Best Junel came out of the goal and Nicolás Castillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodrigo Huilipan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emil Scobioalã, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half U21 Chile were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Mesut Özil took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rodrigo Huilipan. Rodrigo Huilipan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. U21 Moldova made a substitution. Ilie Cazacu replaced Ruslan Cepoi. After 71 played minutes U21 Moldova got a freekick which was hit by Emil Scobioalã. Ilie Cazacu kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mesut Özil in the 75th minute of play forced U21 Chile's goalkeeper Rodrigo Huilipan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rodrigo Huilipan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mihail Postolache in the 85th minute of the match. Rodrigo Huilipan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mesut Özil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 90 played minutes U21 Chile got a freekick which was hit by Ubaldo Matildo Klein. Eduardo Camavinga took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rodrigo Huilipan. U21 Chile's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Nicolás Castillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Moldova's goalkeeper Best Junel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mihail Postolache took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rodrigo Huilipan. Rodrigo Huilipan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. U21 Moldova had played much better football throughout.
