The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Giorgos Trikoupis hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. In the 7th minute, The Blues's Giorgos Trikoupis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hias Nüssli. Hias Nüssli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Mira Bobo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuele Kunz, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 15th minute Alf Aaker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hias Nüssli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Switzerland booed when The Blues was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Hurdle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mira Bobo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuele Kunz in the 21st minute of play. André Jay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hias Nüssli having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Giorgos Trikoupis came free, but Hias Nüssli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th match minute, The Blues was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Mechlenborg to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Switzerland's zone, Alf Aaker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hias Nüssli came out of the goal and Alf Aaker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mira Bobo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Maurer in the 59th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Alf Aaker had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hias Nüssli. Switzerland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alf Aaker was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Alf Aaker scored 3-0 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hias Nüssli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Giorgos Trikoupis struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Hias Nüssli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Blues. Switzerland made a substitution. Jürg von Ballmoos replaced Rodrigo von Känel. Nicolas Mechlenborg hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. 84 minutes into the match, The Blues's goalkeeper Mira Bobo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Samuele Kunz. Mira Bobo was a little too slow when Jürg von Ballmoos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 4-1. Many of Switzerland's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Switzerland may have spent more time on the ball, but The Blues were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
