Erwin Pellicer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Metod Mlynar in the 13th minute of play. After 15 played minutes Slovakia got a freekick which was hit by Vavrinec Koleno. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Zigmund Maliar hit a great ball. In the 17th minute Gomez Berrahondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrich Slany saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Fernandez Poblaciones kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Henrich Slany. That made the score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. If Fernandez Poblaciones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Erwin Pellicer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Metod Mlynar, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Caicedo Berrondo might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Henrich Slany. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Caicedo Berrondo ran back to his position shaking his head. Metod Mlynar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. GUAYACO's goalkeeper Erwin Pellicer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 36 minutes into the match, Caicedo Berrondo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Henrich Slany. Slovakia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Caicedo Berrondo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 43 minutes into the game, one of Slovakia:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
