In the 4th minute, Rega Merida CF's Nistor Sârban ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sebastião Xoxe. Sebastião Xoxe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 8 minutes into the match, Nistor Sârban dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sebastião Xoxe, 2-0. 15 minutes into the match, Norbert Major had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Konstanty Wawro. Rega Merida CF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Norbert Major was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. 18 minutes into the game, Pogoń Szczecin's Norbert Major nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Konstanty Wawro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Ryan Gravenhorst hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Nistor Sârban kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sebastião Xoxe. That made the score 3-2 in the 28 minute of play. In the 32nd minute Norbert Major shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Konstanty Wawro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastião Xoxe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nistor Sârban, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 43rd minute, Norbert Major ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Konstanty Wawro was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 3-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nistor Sârban to make the kick off.
