An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 12th minute of play forced StraX Xenon FC's goalkeeper Mattias Olofsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Arne Nordal tried to sneak it across the goal line. StraX Xenon FC were awarded a corner in the 16th minute after Netherlands's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Arne Nordal took the corner. David Klementsson hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After having played for 21 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The StraX Xenon FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-1.
If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mattias Olofsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. In the 56th minute David Eikelkamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Olofsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Wilmes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mattias Olofsson having to make a save. Mattias Olofsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 84th minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torbjörn Brummer in the 93rd minute of the match. After having played for 94 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Netherlands played a much better game than StraX Xenon FC and deserved their victory. The StraX Xenon FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
