São Wilson's Donato Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save São Wilson from getting a goal against them. Mikael Njurenius sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind São Wilson's goalkeeper Donato Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 22nd match minute, São Wilson was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ademir Lucas to maneuver through the defense. When Dennis Lundkvist fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Menofta's protests and gave Dennis Lundkvist a yellow card for diving instead. Donato Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mikael Njurenius in the 52nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the São Wilson defense, Mikael Njurenius kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donato Salles. The São Wilson fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donato Salles should have stopped the shot. Mikael Njurenius might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donato Salles. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mikael Njurenius ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Menofta booed when São Wilson was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Raí Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. John Arvidsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Menofta's Olov Österberg got his second yellow card of the match in the 68th minute. Donato Salles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Donato Salles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikael Njurenius in the 77th minute of play. After 79 minutes, Bengt Dahlquist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Menofta and the São Wilson players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th minute, Bengt Dahlquist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
