An unexpectedly hard shot by Raik Topuz in the 23rd minute of play forced England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Raik Topuz dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Khalid Kennedy, 1-0. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Medero Gadea hit a great ball. Micah Macdonald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Patrick Knechtli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Issac Dawson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the England defense, Téo Savion kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Khalid Kennedy. The England fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Khalid Kennedy should have stopped the shot. In the 43rd minute, Cooper Thompson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Daniel Schroeder managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olympique Fribourg's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Schroeder was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Khalid Kennedy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Patrick Knechtli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kyle Cox, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 55 played minutes Olympique Fribourg got a freekick which was hit by Medero Gadea. In the 56th minute, Kyle Cox got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Caelan Hayes hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. England's Khalid Kennedy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Savion in the 61st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Kyle Cox's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Patrick Knechtli was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. In the 66th minute, Edoardo Oroni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, England's Kyle Cox sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Patrick Knechtli narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 72 minutes into the game, Téo Savion cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Khalid Kennedy was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Olympique Fribourg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. In the 88th minute Medero Gadea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Khalid Kennedy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Khalid Kennedy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Medero Gadea's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Patrick Knechtli made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Micah Macdonald sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raik Topuz in the 93rd minute of play forced England's goalkeeper Khalid Kennedy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes had been played when some careless play by England's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marcellus Walpert was slow to take the kick. During this time Olympique Fribourg's players had a chance to rest. England's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
