In the 16th minute of the match Germany got a corner. Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Frank Sachs ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Germany's Frank Sachs to fire away a dangerous shot which Silvio Bazil despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Giovanni Arósio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Tommy Kahn when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, Germany's Tommy Kahn got control of the ball when Guillermo Izquierdo tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Martin Palermo F.C. booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Malte Schiele didn't get a good kick on the ball. Germany's Tommy Kahn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Germany from getting a goal against them. But to his dismay, Giovanni Arósio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giovanni Arósio in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Kahn saved Germany from getting behind. Martin Palermo F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Giovanni Arósio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Martin Palermo F.C. had played much better football throughout.
