Casper Claes made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Habeeb Shevchenko sent off a good shot on target. 9 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Álvarez's goal looked a bit too open when Yves Dervaux came free, but Apolo Munio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edward Vanderstraeten struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Apolo Munio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. Apolo Munio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 17th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Club Deportivo Álvarez's Adrian Lohitzun dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 25th minute of the match, Adrian Lohitzun tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Casper Claes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Ángel Hvalica, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Casper Claes made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Miguel Ángel Hvalica sent off a good shot on target. In the 31st minute, Simon Sabbe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Apolo Munio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Edgar Merski made in the 34th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Adrian Lohitzun however managed to control. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Apolo Munio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Apolo Munio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 58 minutes into the game, Victoriano Berto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportivo Álvarez's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Belgium the free kick. Victoriano Berto kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Simon Sabbe hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Apolo Munio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 63 minutes into the match, Edward Vanderstraeten dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Apolo Munio, 2-1. Edward Vanderstraeten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Apolo Munio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Yves Dervaux's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Apolo Munio firmly grabbed it by the left post. 79 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Deportivo Álvarez's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edward Vanderstraeten was slow to take the kick. During this time Belgium's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Siebe Michiels got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Apolo Munio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Apolo Munio having to make a save. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportivo Álvarez's goalkeeper Apolo Munio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edward Vanderstraetens short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Apolo Munio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Belgium getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Edward Vanderstraeten hit a great ball. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Apolo Munio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Apolo Munio made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. Club Deportivo Álvarez were furious when Vladimir Lenin was red carded, 96 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The goalkeeper, Apolo Munio, was totally fooled by Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten, who 99 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Belgium's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
