In the 5th minute, Habeeb Shevchenko left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Deportivo Álvarez fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Apolo Munio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Enriquez in the 10th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Club Deportivo Álvarez's Habeeb Shevchenko. But to his dismay, Habeeb Shevchenko quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The audience was convinced that Gustaaf Groeneveldt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Apolo Munio was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sped through Club Deportivo Álvarez's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Apolo Munio. Arnout Reekers was a little too slow when Miguel Ángel Hvalica got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 26th minute. The score was now 3-1. 32 minutes into the match, Adrian Lohitzun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Adrian Lohitzun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Adrian Lohitzun took a quick shot and it went in 6-1 without a chance for Arnout Reekers to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 42 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 45 minutes, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Lohitzun in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrian Lohitzun in the 53rd minute of play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Habeeb Shevchenko in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 61st minute of play forced Club Deportivo Álvarez's goalkeeper Apolo Munio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Miguel Ángel Hvalica had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arnout Reekers. In the 71st minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Apolo Munio. The goal made the score 7-2. In the 74th minute Habeeb Shevchenko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Apolo Munio came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-3. Club Deportivo Álvarez made a substitution. Ildefonso Fix replaced Osvaldo Oihan. Club Deportivo Álvarez's Epifanio Argider was substituted for Edgar Merski. The Club Deportivo Álvarez players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
