Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Edward Vanderstraeten kicked off to start the match. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petruț Fințescu in the 8th minute of the match. Fausto Ferrante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Casper Claes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 14th play minute Fausto Ferrante came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Casper Claes. 1-0. Casper Claes was a little too slow when Fausto Ferrante got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in FC Ruscova's zone, Edward Vanderstraeten stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Helmuth Duckadam came out of the goal and Edward Vanderstraeten tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 31 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Helmuth Duckadam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lenny Clocheret hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. When Nigel Devos fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Belgium's protests and gave Nigel Devos a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Ruscova booed when Belgium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nigel Devos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Ruscova's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Helmuth Duckadam saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 43rd minute of the match Belgium got a corner. FC Ruscova's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Edward Vanderstraeten ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Edward Vanderstraeten got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Helmuth Duckadam quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Fausto Ferrante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Casper Claes having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Lenny Clocheret hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fausto Ferrante stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51stth minute of the game Edward Vanderstraeten who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Ruscova's goalie prevented a goal. When Alex Aurelianu fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Helmuth Duckadam. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save FC Ruscova from getting a goal against them. In the 56th minute, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Helmuth Duckadam. Helmuth Duckadam yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. FC Ruscova's Albert Harbuz was substituted for Marco Verratti. When Edward Vanderstraeten came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Belgium fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edward Vanderstraeten couldn't finish the play. In the 65th match minute, FC Ruscova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Aurelianu to maneuver through the defense. FC Ruscova's Petruț Fințescu got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petruț Fințescu in the 70th minute of play. After having played for 72 minutes, Edward Vanderstraeten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Belgium's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Vanderstraeten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Fausto Ferrante fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Ruscova's protests and gave Fausto Ferrante a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd match minute, FC Ruscova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fausto Ferrante to maneuver through the defense. Yves Dervaux's late challenge caught a FC Ruscova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yves Dervaux helped the player get up and apologised.
