The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, FFC Merainies 03 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Tevreden to maneuver through the defense. Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graciano Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 5th minute of play forced FFC Merainies 03's goalkeeper Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zé Pedro Montana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. 10 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Pedro Montana came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Zé Pedro Montana had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Pedro Montana was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 17th minute, Kevin Tevreden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Faustino Almeida struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugal. FFC Merainies 03's Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caetano Moreira in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of FFC Merainies 03 booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graciano Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Fabio Botello from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Wilson Amorim's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Kevin Tevreden made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. When Portugal's Felipe Barreto in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FFC Merainies 03's goalie prevented a goal. Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Barreto in the 36th minute of the match. 44 minutes into the game, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Pedro Montana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Viriato Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. 70 minutes into the game, Kevin Tevreden threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Felipinho Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 76th minute, Bartolomeu Dias reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu. The goal made the score 2-2. 89 minutes into the match, FFC Merainies 03's goal looked a bit too open when Felipinho Amorim came free, but Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FFC Merainies 03's Rıdvan İbrahimoğlu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save FFC Merainies 03 from getting a goal against them. When FFC Merainies 03's Zé Pedro Montana in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
