Jacek Matuch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Silvestre Loi took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 20th minute of play forced SV Bad Harzburg's goalkeeper Jacek Matuch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes came free in the 24th minute and tried to tip the ball over Jacek Matuch, but to the joy of SV Bad Harzburg's supporters the ball went over. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvestre Loi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacek Matuch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvestre Loi in the 58th minute of play. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnout Reekers stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvestre Loi's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvestre Loi in the 93rd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when SV Bad Harzburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermann Viapiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. SV Bad Harzburg's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
