Éthan Pichard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvestre Loi, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After having played for 42 minutes, Jurek Ohrem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SV Bad Harzburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jurek Ohrem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Netherlands booed when SV Bad Harzburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvestre Loi didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Jurek Ohrem managed to get in a good position for a shot. SV Bad Harzburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Jurek Ohrem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Netherlands eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
