Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Styrbjörn Nilsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 21st minute of play forced Slipmaskinerna's goalkeeper Zorion Carić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peanut Lord in the 52nd minute of play. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Slipmaskinerna's goalkeeper Zorion Carić, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zorion Carić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wim Wilmes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Slipmaskinerna's Mastur Bates was substituted for Peanut Lord. Netherlands's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 73rd minute. The corner led Netherlands's Kees Mooiweer to fire away a dangerous shot which Zorion Carić despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 82nd minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zorion Carić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zorion Carić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Wilmes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Styrbjörn Nilsson in the 85th minute of play. In the 89th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gustaaf Groeneveldt got free with Zorion Carić in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Mastur Bates kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. Many of Netherlands's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Netherlands may have spent more time on the ball, but Slipmaskinerna were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
