Lars Meesters kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zair Hasa made a kick off. National Team Cape-Verde's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 74 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. A nice corner shot did that Gijsbert ter Kruimer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pål Sefastsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Şahap Özgu in the 77th minute of play. In the 79thth minute of the game Wim Wilmes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Wim Wilmes sped through National Team Cape-Verde's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pål Sefastsson. Gust Ennemans made in the 82nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by National Team Cape-Verde's Johannes Stenqvist. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Broberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save National Team Cape-Verde from getting a goal against them. Pål Sefastsson was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Wim Wilmes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 88 minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gijsbert ter Kruimer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pål Sefastsson was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. The National Team Cape-Verde fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Netherlands were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
