The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Hermanö Oilers's goal looked a bit too open when Gijsbert ter Kruimer came free, but Oskar Haeger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Meesters in the 16th minute of play forced Hermanö Oilers's goalkeeper Oskar Haeger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Hermanö Oilers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Oskar Haeger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oskar Haeger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dave Di Filippo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 30 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Dave Di Filippo came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oskar Haeger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Oskar Haeger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 40th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oskar Haeger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 42th minute after Hermanö Oilers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horea Popârcea during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Hermanö Oilers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horea Popârcea didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Oskar Haeger made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Hermanö Oilers's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt scored to the left of an out of position Oskar Haeger, making the score, 1-1. Gust Ennemans hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Gustaaf Groeneveldt could shoot a difficult shot in the 58th minute, which Oskar Haeger however easily saved by the left post. Oskar Haeger made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent off a good shot on target. Hermanö Oilers's Sven-Olof Dalberg quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Gust Ennemans, made in the 65th minute of the game. Hermanö Oilers's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Wim Wilmes scored to the left of an out of position Oskar Haeger, making the score, 1-2. Hermanö Oilers's Oskar Haeger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Wilmes in the 70th minute of play. In the 76thth minute of the game Dave Di Filippo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Hermanö Oilers's Ingemar Stålman was substituted for Bror Lilja. In the 84th minute, Robin Hood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robin Hood, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Robin Hood notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Netherlands's Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Hermanö Oilers's Oskar Haeger got control of the ball when Gustaaf Groeneveldt tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Oskar Haeger. Oskar Haeger yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The Hermanö Oilers supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Netherlands's performance. The match ended with a win for Netherlands.
