Atlético Capixaba's Marco Dionísio was substituted for Dário Leme. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 3rd minute of the game. One of Atlético Capixaba:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of -BZF- Petrolul Berca:s goal. 13 minutes into the match, -BZF- Petrolul Berca's goal looked a bit too open when Durvalino Torres came free, but Mihnea Vizitiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Mihnea Vizitiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Alvarenga in the 14th minute of play. After 16 played minutes -BZF- Petrolul Berca got a freekick which was hit by Marioara Olaru. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Maria Leão got free with Mihnea Vizitiu in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 25 minutes into the game, -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Liviu Hurmuz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Telmo Andrade made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 30 minutes into the match, -BZF- Petrolul Berca's goalkeeper Mihnea Vizitiu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Maria Leão. The supporters of -BZF- Petrolul Berca booed when Atlético Capixaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Maria Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Silas Melo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mihnea Vizitiu. That made the score 1-2 in the 40 minute of play. Mihnea Vizitiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrique Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half -BZF- Petrolul Berca were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Maria Leão to strike the kick off in the second half. Henrique Alvarenga scored 2-2 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mihnea Vizitiu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Telmo Andrade came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Liviu Hurmuz. But to his dismay, Liviu Hurmuz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gelu Bădoi in the 63rd minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Telmo Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. -BZF- Petrolul Berca's Gelu Bădoi got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Telmo Andrade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gelu Bădoi in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute, Gelu Bădoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Durvalino Torres during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77th match minute, Atlético Capixaba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durvalino Torres to maneuver through the defense. -BZF- Petrolul Berca made a substitution. Vasile Barbonța replaced Aurel Mustea. A collision led to Atlético Capixaba getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Durvalino Torres hit a great ball. After 83 minutes Atlético Capixaba's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marioara Olaru who took care of the corner kick. In the 85th minute Dan Andrițoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Telmo Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
