Geovanni Hoffmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aírton de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. When the match clock showed 33 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Agnaldo Brodel sped through 20 DE SETEMBRO's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Geovanni Hoffmann. When Dudu Borges came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Catugi FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dudu Borges couldn't finish the play. 20 DE SETEMBRO's Geovanni Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dudu Borges in the 39th minute of play. Zé Augusto Castro hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Catugi FC's Agnaldo Brodel got a free kick in the 47th minute.

In the 52nd minute, Cássio Paiva ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reko Nybacka was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 56thth minute of the game Régis Carvalho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Catugi FC's Reko Nybacka was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Catugi FC's Reko Nybacka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Orlando Nóbrega in the 59th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Agnaldo Brodel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovanni Hoffmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. One of 20 DE SETEMBRO:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Catugi FC:s goal. Geovanni Hoffmann had in the 67thth minute some difficulties stopping Walmir Duarte's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 67th minute, Walmir Duarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geovanni Hoffmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Reko Nybacka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benjamin Barbosa in the 74th minute of the match. Geovanni Hoffmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agnaldo Brodel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Agnaldo Brodel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geovanni Hoffmann was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. In the 90th minute, Luiz Fernando Abraão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Agnaldo Brodel took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Geovanni Hoffmann to make any attempt to save it.
